Moran Zer Katzenstein is the co-founder of Bonot Alternativa (“Women Building an Alternative”) – a movement built together by thousands of women who decided they want more.
What began as a single Facebook post and a small WhatsApp group quickly grew, through collective action and shared leadership, into Israel’s largest women’s grassroots movement, with over 100,000 activists in more than 80 locations.
From day one, Moran and the many women who joined her worked together: they organized demonstrations, launched community initiatives, built local leadership networks, and turned frustration into meaningful change.
The heart of this story has never been one woman – it has always been a community of women leading side by side.
Following the October 7 attacks, Moran and the wider Bonot Alternativa network jointly established an operations center, supported displaced communities, mobilized thousands of professional women, and led international efforts for recognition of the gender-based and sexual violence committed by Hamas.
Moran is a Peres Center Medal of Distinction Laureate, honored for her contribution to Israeli society. Before founding Bonot Alternativa, she held senior marketing roles at global companies including Google, Coca-Cola, L’Oréal and Playtika. She served as a Lieutenant in the IDF in an intelligence role with the Shin Bet, holds an MBA from the College of Management, and is a devoted mother of four boys.
